Position Descriptions

PRESIDENT​ ​

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course;

  • Attend/preside over SGA officer and general meetings weekly;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in the OSL Office;

  • Sit on Campus President Council and report back to SGA; and

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Create agenda for the meetings;

  • Network with other school leaders;

  • Network with faculty and staff;

  • Serve as student liaison by initiating contact with student body;

  • Serve on the finance committee; and

  • Meet with the Chancellor at open forum once a semester.


Suggestions for Conducting Business:

  • ​Ensure that appointments are made to all standing committees.

  • Advise all standing committees.

  • Preside at all meetings.

  • Review all committee reports and approve all treasury transactions.

  • Periodically meet with advisor.

​VICE PRESIDENT​ ​

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course 

  • Attend all SGA Officer and general meetings;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in OSL;

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Work with the President in facilitating meetings;

  • Advise the ad-hoc committees;

  • Serve on the finance committee;

  • Plan and help implement a service project for SGA;

  • Replace the President if he/she is unable to fulfill his/her commitments.


Suggestions for Conducting Business:

  • ​Support President;

  • Assist in agenda building;

  • Be available to preside at all meetings;

  • Keep close communication with other officers and delegates;

  • Remember: Delegates are your most important assets for success.

  • Remember: The Vice President is a member first, in a position, which is supported by the body. All outlined responsibilities for SGA delegates are to be upheld.   


​SECRETARY

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Complete all paperwork;

  • Have good typing skills;

  • Be able to record minutes at officer and general meetings;

  • Attend all SGA Officer and general meetings;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in OSL; and

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Record minutes at all meetings;

  • Submit unapproved minutes to OSL for proofing, make corrections to unapproved minutes, and post 48 hours after general meeting;

  • After general meeting, make any corrections to approved minutes, post approved minutes, and submit additional copy to OSL;

  • Make sure the minutes are available to all delegates at general meetings;

  • Assist President and Vice President with agenda; and

  • Update changes to SGA records and make records available to delegates as needed.

​TREASURER

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course;

  • Attend all SGA Officer and general meetings;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in OSL; and

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Chair the finance committee;

  • Keep up with the SGA financial books;

  • Coordinate and oversee fundraising activities; and

  • Give record of funds in account at each meeting.

​PARLIAMENTARIAN

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course;

  • Attend all SGA Officer and general meetings;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in OSL; and

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Implement all aspects of parliamentary procedures;

  • Time keeper of meetings;

  • Keeps the order of business at general meeting; and

  • Chair Law & Ethics committee

​HISTORIAN

​Term:

​2 Semesters (Fall and Spring)


Qualifications:

  • ​Maintain 2.5 GPA;

  • Maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester;

  • Have completed a challenge course;

  • Attend all SGA Officer and general meetings;

  • Attend Parliamentary Procedure training and officer training;

  • Spend 2 scheduled hours in OSL; and

  • Maintain highest standard of integrity and ethics.


Responsibilities:

  • ​Document all SGA events;

  • Chair publicity/marketing committee;

  • Update SGA display cases; and

  • Compile end of the year report.
