A one-day trip to historic Natchitoches Parish in Louisiana. You will revisit slavery and plantation life in the Deep South by visiting Melrose and Magnolia Cane River Plantations. You will also learn about a freed-slave name Marie Therese Coin-Coin Metoyer, and how this woman of color came to own a plantation with slaves in pre-Civil War Louisiana. A small fee for the trip is required at time of registration. All travel expenses will be covered including bus transportation, entrance fees, and two meals.
