Participatory Budget

What is Leo's Big Idea?

Leo's Big Idea is Mountain View College's Student Participatory Budgeting (PB). PB is a creative process that allows Mountain View College students to directly decide how to spend a portion of our budgeted funds on student projects and ideas. We encourage students to develop project proposals that will impact their learning environment.

Why are we doing this?

  • To inspire innovation among students
  • Students have a better understanding of what they need and what will improve their surroundings
  • To allow everyone the opportunity to be a game changing decision maker
  • Promotes – inclusiveness, accountability and transparency

What you need to do?

  • Let your creativity be your guide
  • Promote your project among your peers
  • Adhere to the deadlines
  • Attend the Leo's Big Idea, Project Fair
  • Encourage everyone to vote
  • Ask a Mountain View employee to serve as your project mentor

What we will do?

  • Award up to $2,500 on projects that obtain the popular vote
  • Provide guidance as needed (
  • Ensure your projects are viable

We cannot fund any student travel, conference components or ongoing projects.
