Specific Opportunities: DCCCD students would serve as After-School Assistants in Big Thought's Thriving Minds After-School programs (2:30-5:30 PM weekdays on school campuses); duties would include: - Helping children with homework - Assisting teaching artists and instructors with classes, workshops, performances or events - Support other program elements such as snack distribution, recess supervision, attendance data collection and parent interactions.
Potential Projects This Year: Family engagement events - design, plan and implement events for families of students in after-school programs. Performance management - assist after-school programs with large performance events, including set design and construction, costumes, make-up, promotion, stage management and front of house coordination on performance days.

In Thriving Minds After-School programs, Big Thought works with schools and communities to identify and utilize neighborhood resources which provide students with high-quality learning opportunities which flex their creativity while building their social and emotional skills. Volunteer positions at Thriving Minds programs offer an opportunity to be a positive influence in a child's life.
