Veterans Educational Transitions (VET)

What it is: The Veterans Educational Transitions (VET) program is designed to accelerate program completion by awarding college credit for military experience in specific degree or certificate programs.

Depending on your service branch and the training you received, you may be eligible for college credit, which can accelerate your completion of a DCCCD degree or certificate in the areas of:

If your military occupation or service training related to any of these program areas you may be closer than you think to completing a degree or certificate. Even if you do not want to pursue the same field as a long-term career choice, these programs may help you to quickly enter the workforce as you continue your education. To determine the extent of your credit eligibility, follow the program links.

What you need: The Joint Services Transcript (JST) or Air Force Community College transcript is the primary document needed to evaluate your military training. The JST transcript will contain the needed ACE ID number to assess your individual training.

In addition to the military transcripts, the College Credit for Heroes evaluation can supply information on credit recommendations related to your specific training. Be sure to request a copy of the evaluation.

Where we are going: DCCCD will continue to work through the College Credit for Heroes program to evaluate military training and award college credit based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations. Through this ongoing process military training will be evaluated for the application to additional DCCCD program areas. For up-to-date information, contact the Veteran Services office at your college of DCCCD.
