Expand Your World View

Interested, but wondering if an International Honor Certificate is right for you? Below are a few key facts that may help you decide if the certificate (and the timing) is right.

  • These are self-paced honors courses
  • The deadline to apply for the spring 2016 program is Wednesday, Feb. 3
  • Your class will run Feb. 4 to April 29 as part of flex term
  • When you pass the course, you receive a grade of "Pass"  for the DCCCD equivalent course and an International Honors Certificate is issued by the four-year institution
  • You must register by February 3 to receive financial aid

*This program is offered in conjunction with Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society; however, membership in PTK is not required. Students who complete the courses also receive a certificate of "International Leadership in Action and Development" through PTK.

Boost Your Resume

Wonder what are students saying about the International Honors Courses (IHC)?

Many believe the certificate program will help them expand their resume including Jorge Pina, a biomedical sciences student at Mountain View College.

"I'm not just competing with people in Dallas," explains Pina. "I'm competing on an international level. This (program) gives me a competitive advantage if I'm applying to an elite university or for a job."

A resume boost translates into more than job opportunities, however. A strong resume can also help you with scholarship applications— especially those for international travel or study abroad. Your honors class will introduce you to some of these scholarship opportunities.
