Mary Osentowski, who served as a faculty member of DCCCD, is the embodiment of hard work as she strives to improve herself in all areas. Speech teachers district-wide looked to her for guidance and leadership, and her contributions to the instructional goals of the District touched many throughout her years of service. As she attended local, state and national conventions, she would bring back innovative approaches for her classroom to meet the diverse needs of her students. She was a leader in the Continuous Quality Improvement program at Richland, a strategy that gained national attention.
She was the go-to person in her field of expertise. Her ability to work with others and to streamline an agenda helped make an effective and efficient approach to any job. When Richland needed an acting Vice President of Instruction, Mary stepped in and helped make a smooth transition. Mary gave her assistance and guidance on many committee assignments and special projects.
Today, Mary serves her church, her profession, and her community at large through her exemplary volunteer work. She volunteers her services as a Cantor at St. Joseph Catholic Church and works with non-native English speakers at the Richardson Adult Literacy Center. She has served as Board member, President-elect, President and State Governor at the Richardson Altrusa Club. This year she took on a task of chairing the Outstanding Women of Today committee, the primary fund-raiser for the club's many worthwhile projects.
