Conducting Sting Operations to Recover Victims of Human Trafficking

The purpose of this session is to teach officers basic theories behind how to conduct sting operations targeting sex buyers, and people engaging in Human Trafficking, using minimal manpower and resources, while maintaining a victim-centered case, assuring victims of Human Trafficking are not arrested.

 

Mental Health and Human Trafficking: Exploring the impact of trauma on trafficking survivor

This presentation will take a deeper look at the impact of trafficking on survivors of this crime from a mental health perspective. Attendees will gain a more thorough understanding of trauma from a neurological perspective, the challenges trafficking survivors face, and the barriers service providers must overcome in order to provide effective and appropriate support services.

“Summer’s Story”

A case study involving the human trafficking and repeated sexual abuse of a Texas CPS teen, “Summer” who was trafficked and victimized all over Texas, including by 8 defendants in McLennan County Texas. This case study primarily focuses on one main perpetrator in Waco who kept her prisoner in his home, incapacitated by drugs, and sold her body for money and drugs. Andre Renor Evans went to trial in March 2016 and received 12 consecutive life sentences from the jury for his numerous crimes against Summer.
