Andrea Sparks is the Director of Governor Abbott's Child Sex Trafficking Team. The Team leads public and private stakeholders in developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to combat child sexual exploitation and provide its survivors the services they need to heal and thrive. The Team is currently focused on developing regional continua of survivor care in Texas' trafficking hotspots and funding trauma-informed placements and services.
Before joining the Governor's Office, Andrea served as the Executive Director of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's Texas Regional Office, and as Director of Public Affairs for Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Andrea has also practiced law, representing children and families in child protection, juvenile justice and adoption cases and worked as a staff attorney at the Texas Supreme Court.
Andrea is married to Grant Sparks, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District, and they have two children, Maddie and J.T.
