Joseph Brockway has taught Spanish at Mountain View College since 2008, and he has been actively involved in creating an atmosphere of cultural learning on campus. In the fall of 2009 and the spring of 2011 Professor Brockway organized the Exploring the Americas cultural fair that incorporated Latin American and Spanish music, food, poetry, and arts and crafts. Since 2010 he has also organized summer study-abroad trips to Quito, Ecuador, where students immerse themselves in the language and complete community service projects with an after-school children’s program. Additionally, Professor Brockway has served as co-advisor and then lead advisor for Mountain View College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa since 2008. During that time the chapter has consistently received Five Star recognition, the highest level of achievement, and been awarded numerous regional and international recognitions.
