A Mountain View College Associate Degree Nursing program graduate’s success in the program will be measured as outlined below.
Performance on licensure exam: The pass rate of first time test takers on NCLEX-RN will equal or surpass the average Texas state nursing program.
Program completion: The percentage of students who complete the nursing program within 24 months will meet or exceed the state college nursing rates.
Program Satisfaction: 80% or higher number of graduating students will perceive that the program has adequately prepared them to practice as a beginning registered nurse and will rate their experience as satisfied or very satisfied (as measured by the Program Completion Survey and follow up Graduate Nurse Survey).
Job Placement: Success in placement and time it takes to gain employment will be measured by an 80% or greater rate in 1 year (as measured by the Graduate Nurse Survey). Additionally the Employer Satisfaction Survey will show an 80% or higher satisfaction with the performance of the MVC graduates.
Positive behaviors or attitudes for the MVC Nursing Student include:
Displaying a commitment to the value of caring by delivering patient and family- centered care.
Using the nursing process as a basis for critical thinking by integrating natural science and social science principles and concepts.
Collaborating with diverse patients, families, and other health team members in providing quality, safe patient care that will achieve an optimal level of health and wellness, or when this is not possible, support the experience of loss and death.
Practicing as a coordinator of care in variety of settings using current technology and informatics.
Communicating effectively with diverse patients, families, and other health team members in the performance of professional roles.
Practicing within the ethical and legal framework of nursing and be accountable for ensuring high standards of nursing practice.
Utilizing leadership and management principles in providing nursing care.
Functioning in a resource-driven health-care system that demands flexibility and adaptability to meet the unknown and unforeseen.
Contributing to the profession of nursing.
Maintaining accountability and responsibility for one’s own professional nursing values, behaviors, growth, and continued nursing education.
Demonstrating behaviors that promote the image and integrity of the nursing profession.
