Cherlyn Shultz-Ruth, M.S.N., RN

Cherlyn Shultz-Ruth joined the Associate Degree Nursing program faculty at Mountain View College in the fall of 2014 and in August 2015 was appointed dean of allied health and nursing.

Teaching experience in lecture and clinical settings includes medical surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing and pediatrics. Professional nursing and management experience includes neonatal and special care, newborn nursery, maternal-child, medical surgical nursing and pediatrics. She has worked as a registered nurse in the Methodist Health System (MHS) and Hospital Cooperation of America (HCA).

Dean Ruth originally joined the DCCCD as skills lab coordinator after graduating from El Centro College’s associate degree nursing program. She left El Centro to further her career in nursing and returned as full-time faculty in 2009.

She holds an associate degree in nursing from El Centro College, a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and is currently working towards a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Capella University.
