Preadmission Testing

Students desiring to apply to the Mountain View College Nursing Program are required to take a standardized admission exam. The Health Education Systems, Inc., Admissions Assessment (HESI A2 ™) will be scheduled and administered at the Mountain View College Instructional Labs Center W139. All students are required to set up an account in order to register and pay for the exam.  Please go to the link below and follow the instructions.

The HESI A2™ may be completed at any Dallas Community College District Campus (DCCCD), or any State Institution that offers the exam. The sections that must be completed with a 75% or greater on each section for the HESI A2™ exam are Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Math, Vocabulary/General Knowledge, and Anatomy/Physiology (combined "English" sections). The Learning styles and Personality Profile section are required but are not calculated with the HESI A2™ exam score.

Important points to note about the HESI A2™:  

  • Testers must be a DCCCD student to sign up for the exam. 
  • Students taking the HESI A2™ exam must be a Dallas County Community College student to sign up for the exam.  HESI A2™ exam scores are valid for two years.
  • HESI A2™ most recent score will be used in the calculation of admission points.
  • The cost for the exam is $40 at Mountain View College (price is subject to change). 
  • You will need to schedule the HESI A2™ appointment in person at the Mountain View College Instructional Labs Center W-139.
  • Please schedule and take your HESI A2™ early because seats are limited and may not be available near the end of the exam period.
