Dr. Alex Diaz is an experienced educator with diverse experiences in higher education in Dallas County Community College District. He began teaching as a part-time faculty member at Mountain View College in 2001 and became full-time faculty in 2005; he serves as program coordinator for Business and Management studies at the college.
During the first four years at Mountain View, he directed and managed the Human Resources Department, where he learned about the diverse roles in a college and the budgetary process at an institution of higher education. For the next eight years, he served as chair and faculty for the college's Business and Management programs.
Over the next three years, he performed the duties of the executive dean of the Business, Math, Computers and Technology Division, where he led 10 disciplines including Business, Management, Computers, Criminal Justice, Economics, Electronics, Welding, and Math. Dr. Diaz has participated in efforts to work with local high schools, universities and local employers to develop working relationships to better serve Mountain View students.
Dr. Diaz holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Business Administration degree in management from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) degree in educational leadership and management from Capella University.
Previous professional experience includes serving as a business analyst and project manager for Nortel Networks in Dallas; as a regional recruiter for Carlson Restaurants Worldwide-TGI Friday's in Dallas; as a human resources manager for the Expo Group in Irving; as an assistant employment manager for The Associates in Irving; and as a business and customer service representative for Sprint Corporation in Dallas.
Dr. Diaz considers himself a dedicated educator with a passion for the community in which he serves, and a proponent of the life-changing impact that a dedicated group of educators can have by empowering students to change their lives through education.
