Certified Nurse Aide Training I                                                        $480

This certified nurse aide training program prepares students for the demanding need for nurse aides in the health care industry. A

completed application is required to register with proof of immunizations and must be submitted to the Continuing Education coordinator

prior to registration. Students must be approved before registration is permitted. Applications are available at the Continuing Education

registration office or online at http://www.mountainviewcollege.edu, click on "Continuing Education" or contact the coordinator at 972-

860-5652. Program is 100 hours: class consists of 60 hours classroom instruction; 40 hours of clinical. Students must be able to pass a

criminal background check and urine drug test. Students will also be responsible for $104.50 state exam fee, $39 for the drug test, and

some supplies. Students should be able to read, speak, and understand English on a 9th grade level. Must also register for NURA 1060

(40 hours clinical). The lecture class consists of 60 hours prior to 40 hours of clinical experience. Textbook Required. Min. Age: 18.

The Dental Assisting program prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing health care areas. The Dental

Assisting program will cover key areas and topics exposing the student to both classroom and hands-on instruction. The classroom

instruction reviews the necessary anatomy, terminology, legal and ethical issues as well as the policies and guidelines necessary to

understanding the scope of practice and the practical aspects of dental assisting. Topics include instrument identification, equipment

maintenance, tooth structure and oral cavity anatomy, dental anesthesia, sterilization, and charting. Program includes review of tooth

charting, restorations, bridge implants, bitewing, panograph, periapical x-ray, and the mixing of dental cements. Additionally, this course

This Phlebotomy I prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will

become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and

safely. Classroom work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and

clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. The program also includes lab exercises, live blood draws, work

with a training arm and other exercises intended to prepare students to function as an entry level Phlebotomy Technician. The curriculum

is designed to provide the educational information and competencies required by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Course design provides students who are speakers of other languages with limited, intermediate/advanced English proficiency an

ongoing, personalized and engaging perspective into the real-life usage of the English language.  Grammatical focus allows students to

further develop effective communication strategies through a higher level form of comprehension with successful academic promotion in

the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking and thinking.  Specialized activities provide students with effective management of their

language study independently and cooperatively for higher level competency at school, in the community, and in the workplace. 

Textbook required.  Min. Age: 18. Diseñado para estudiantes cuya lengua natal no es el inglés. Enfoque en el entendimiento de los retos

de la industria y materiales relacionados con situaciones laborales. Enfoque en el reconocimiento y entendimiento de frases idiomáticas,

analogías, antónimos, sinónimos. El curso está diseñado para proveer al estudiante con el uso de un inglés intermedio y personalizado

que ayude diariamente. Exitosa promoción académica a través de actividades de lectura y escritura que ayuden a los

Prerequisites: COMG 1005 (ESL: Level 4 for Workforce) or equivalency. This advanced English course provides students with a detailed

 

review of grammar, writing, spelling, and vocabulary.  Designed for students whose primary language is other than English, the course

will focus on the 12 tenses of English, parts of speech, subject-verb agreement, conditional sentence structures, homonyms, and many

other writing rules.  Through classroom writing activities, students will improve listening, speaking, and reading skills. Students will learn

 

how to use various reference sources to help proofread and correct written assignments. Textbook Required. Min. Age: 18  Requisito
