Food Pantry

The MVC Food Pantry

Feed the LionsYou cannot work, study or perform if you are hungry. Let's show that Lion’s care!

Did you know that one in six North Texans do not know where they will find their next meal? Texas has a higher rate of food insecurity, one that's higher than the national average. That means it is more difficult for our students, colleagues and community members to put food on the table.

Our food pantry is available to any community member at Mountain View College – students, Garza Early College High School, Emeritus Center members, and staff – anyone who uses the campus. If you or someone you know could use this service, please pass the information along.

Hours of Operation

The food pantry is located in room S1016, which is housed in the Student Services Building.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.  |  Monday & Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

North Texas Food Pantry Mobile Truck

Arrive early to ensure you get some of the fresh produce available from the mobile food truck. It's parked in the west campus parking lot in front of the S Building off Duncanville Rd. every second Thursday and fourth Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Get Involved

  • Donate – We continually accept donations of food and recyclable bags. Donations may be dropped off in the S Building, room S1016.
  • Monetary donations - MVC Food Pantry
  • Spread the word – Tell your students, staff members and our campus community about the Mountain View College Food Pantry. We are here to serve them!
  • Participate – Encourage everyone you know to participate in the annual food drives and events. The donated food goes directly to the Mountain View College Food Pantry.

  • Q: What if I know of a student or coworker on campus who could use the assistance, but they will not come and get the food?
  • A: Come over and get it for them. We understand that some people do not want to come to the pantry, so you can help by collecting some items for them. The only thing we track is what food we have and how many people visit the pantry.
  • Q: How do I get food assistance?
  • A: It is easy. Simply visit the Food Pantry, select the items needed and have a great day.

  • Q: What does the food pantry need?
  • A: We are constantly in need of pasta, jar pasta sauce, peanut butter, breakfast foods, macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles and canned fruit. These are items that students want and we can’t keep enough in stock. Foods that can be cooked easily or microwaved are usually popular. Additionally, there is always a need for protein such as tuna, canned chicken and canned meats. We now accept toiletry items including such as travel-sized products and baby products.
Things We Do Not Accept:
  • Medication
  • Expired food
  • Perishable items
