About the Speaker:
Sonia Ford

Prior to joining Richland College in April 2009, I was employed in Real Estate Facilities with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) from 2000-2008, a $20 billion leading information technology provider with major clients throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia. Previously, I was employed with various government agencies, with DCCCD’s District Service Center and USB Engineering Firm.

As a DCCCD rehire, both positions in Richland College Business Services (2009) and my current position as the Sustainability Project Coordinator for Facilities align very well with my personal, career and educational experience. I realized that through these positions I was presented the opportunity to help make a difference by leading in the continuous improvement of business processes for DCCCD employees, as well as with our students by introducing them to the important concepts of sustainability and stewardship of our environment. Collaboration with faculty, staff, senior leadership and community partners and my prior quality assurance experience have played a major role in developing a sustainability program that provides educational and grant resources for paid internships and field experiences for students. Also, I assist in data reporting for the college’s Energy Conservation Action Plan (ECAP) and serve on the DCCCD Sustainability Team.

My educational background includes a Texas A&M Commerce bachelor’s degree in general studies, and I will complete a master’s degree from Western Governors University’s Management and Leadership Program in Spring 2019.
