The Living Labs at Mountain View College include the Slow Food Community Garden and the Aquaponics Lab where we introduce students to sustainability through food. MVC also boasts a beautiful and diverse Outdoor Classroom where you can explore Woodland Trails, Austin Chalk and Blackland Prairie. Field Guide booklets for the Outdoor Classroom are available upon request. Contact the Sustainability Office at least two days in advance.
Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge – The 4-week long, national competition that encourages everyone to get outdoors! September 18 thru October 15 Hiking, biking, walking, bird watching – so many activities to earn points and great prizes! Look for weekly campus activities like the Campfire Cookout and Tents & Telescopes. Details are coming soon.
Film Series: Years of Living Dangerously (Season 2 • 8 episodes) Once a month we'll screen an episode of the Years of Living Dangerously. Celebrity correspondents bring us stories on those affected by, and seeking solutions to, climate change. Jack Black, Ty Burrell, David Letterman, Ian Somerhalder and Cecily Strong are some of the celebrities who offer a gritty look at not only how we have impacted our planet, but also how we can save it for future generations. RecycleMania – the national recycling competition in February and March 2018 that encourages more recycling and less trash throughout the campus. Student clubs will be competing for cash prizes in the annual paper recycling competition held during RecycleMania. Watch for posters and announcements in January 2018.
