Workforce & Contract Training
Kenney Industries, experts in quality production machining, commercial machining and custom manufacturing and design has partnered with the Mountain View College’ s Workforce and Contract Training Division to provide state of the art training for individuals and employees in the advanced manufacturing industry. The agreement, signed in May, is provisioned to facilitate training at the newly established Kenney Institute of Machining Technology, a ISO 9001:2000 certified 501(c) 3 non-profit extension of Kenney Industries Commercial and Production Machining Companies. The facility, located in Lone Star Park is equipped with industry standard equipment (both manual and CNC) in a hands-on training machine shop. The facility also features a computer lab/workstation area, classrooms, presentation areas and office space. Michael Johnson, Area Sales Account Manager, Mountain View College and Alex Louis, Institute Director, Kenney Industries are heading the project. Currently the team is developing course offerings, certificate programs, and the schedule which is set to begin in late summer.
Please welcome Lori De La Cruz, our new MVC Sustainability Coordinator. Lori will be working with the MVC Green Team and Facilities department to assist Mountain View College in becoming a leader in sustainability. An environmental professional for almost 20 years, De La Cruz specializes in sustainability and solid waste reduction program management and education. Most recently she delivered the iYES Lecture Series at North Lake College on "Sustainability Issues as They Relate to American History." She is an Accredited Business Communicator through the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and holds certificates as a Sustainability Leader, Recycling Systems Manager and Master Composter Trainer. She is currently working toward earning the Sustainability Professional Certificate (SPC) from the International Society of Sustainability Professionals. Her Honors include awards for environmental and sustainability education programs, photography and magazine, newsletter and website design.
