Mountain View College has been doing sustainability actions for a number of years. These actions have been in several areas: making the infrastructure more efficient, recycling, quality of life, reduced water landscaping, etc.

The Green Team was created in 2008; it participated in the trial Star Program of AASHE. The actions were done by few individuals of the MVC community and some had no continuity.

In November of 2011 the MVC Sustainability Project was created and Dr. Maria V. Boccalandro was designated as the Project Coordinator.

A strategic sustainability plan was needed. An “ad-hoc” participation planning process for all of the MVC community was designed.

The Sustainability Development Plan (SDP) was designed with the participation of all of the community.
