Expand/Collapse Title : Advisement ‎(1)
Academic advisement is a process to enhance student success by meeting the assessment, planning, and advisement needs of the student. All students can benefit from the academic advisement process especially since academic skills assessment, general education, technical education, and related programs are constantly evolving.
Academic advisement is a key requisite for any student who desires to efficiently reach his/her educational goal.
Expand/Collapse Title : Advisor Assistance ‎(1)

Since Mountain View College (MVC) is an open admissions institution the academic advising process is based upon each individual student’s unique needs. An academic advisor will be assigned upon request of the student. Advisors are already assigned for students participating in Rising Star, TRiO/FOCUS and other cohort based programs at MVC. Further, any student on academic probation is required to meet with an academic advisor.

Keep in mind that academic advising is more than a means to an end. It is a relationship between you and your academic advisor that requires each to actively engage in the advising process. Also remember that your academic advisor is a valuable resource. Don’t hesitate to ask your academic advisor questions or to seek assistance in avoiding or overcoming threats to achieving your academic goals.

Expand/Collapse Title : Benefits of Advisement ‎(1)
All students are strongly encouraged to obtain academic advisement from a qualified advisor prior to registration in any academic term. For many students academic advising is done on a walk-in basis. Academic advising can also be arranged by appointment upon the student’s request provided the appointment is scheduled outside of peak registration periods. It is to the student’s benefit to seek early advisement prior to the beginning of registration for the term the student plans to enroll.
