MISSION STATEMENT


Through the use of a common book Mountain View College's Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division will engage its students, faculty, and community in a diverse program designed to enrich, stimulate, and foster interdisciplinary learning.

Autobiography of a Face
by Lucy Grealy
 
Theme: Perception: Our Image, Ourselves
 
Some of the goals of the MVC Common Book Series are:
  • To increase student retention through activities that develop interest in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
  • To engage students, faculty, and support staff in an open dialogue of philosophical issues, cultural and historical contexts, gender, religious, and social interactions.
  • To allow faculty to expand the scope of their course curricula with new ideas.
  • To open doors for networking with colleagues at area schools and universities.
  • To increase community development in partnerships with the Early College High School, Molina High School, Bethune Elementary, as well as members of our immediate community.
