Page Content Prepare for the Accuplacer test The State of Texas requires students entering a public two-year or four-year college to the take the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) or one of four approved alternate tests. If you have NOT taken the THEA test, you have the option of taking one of the alternate tests. At Mountain View College, the alternate test is called Accuplacer. This is a set of computerized placement tests (CPTs) developed by the College Board to provide information about your level of skill accomplishment in reading, English and mathematics. Your scores are used to determine the courses in reading, English and mathematics most appropriate for you at this time.
