Mountain View College is proud to have developed a wide variety of cross-walks between our College and surrounding middle schools and high schools. Among these are two Upward Bound programs, funded by the Department of Education. Serving nearly 100 students from Dallas ISD and Grand Prairie ISD, Upward Bound seeks to provide students with academically rigorous tutoring in a supportive environment. In addition to tutoring and mentoring initiatives, students also receive career awareness seminars and have access to all College facilities and programs (library, computer labs, etc.).
Mountain View College is also proud to be the home of the Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School. In only its fifth academic year (2010-2011), the Early College High School currently serves 400 students and has become a model for academic success with other Early College High Schools around the nation. Rated as “Exemplary” by the Texas Education Agency, the Early College High School (ECHS) not only prepares students for college, but immerses them in college-level courses and the culture of a college. MVC ECHS graduates leave high school with a high school diploma as well as an associate’s degree or credit hours transferable to a four-year university of their choosing.
