SYNOPSIS:
In this “the-whole-family-comes-together comedy” by David Bittrell and Jessie Jones, the Turpin’s must survive their own relatives and attempt to overcome the next catastrophe life has in store. In the midst of a sweltering summer, the Turpin’s convene to bury the surly patriarch of the family, Daddy Bud, who has collapsed from a stroke at the breakfast table. As relatives descend on a small backwoods town in the Bible Belt, the grieving family turns for comfort to their quirky, eccentric neighbors and friends who add more chaos to the madness. This farce on death and dying, dysfunction and survival was later made into the movie Kingdom Come starring Whoopie Goldberg, L.L. Cool J, Jada Pinkett--Smith, and Loretta Divine. As the event becomes more fraught with mishaps and misfits, the group must struggle through mayhem to find a kind word for Bud, and face the challenge of sorting out their relationships with the living.
