The Mountain View College Theatre Department, under the direction of Professor Nathan Cole, provides students the opportunity to acquire skills that can be applied to film and stage. In a diverse and immersive laboratory environment, the productions and performance experiences allow students to create alongside working professionals from the DFW entertainment community both on and offstage. By engaging students both academically and in quality theatrical productions, it is our sincere hope to graduate creative and intellectual artists who will be competitive commodities in today’s entertainment community.
MVC Theatre offers a unique educational experience to students through many venues and opportunities that will lead to a life-long love for the theatre. The department presents four to six productions per year that include forums presenting laboratory performances from our various classes, reader’s theatre, and fully realized theatrical productions. The productions and performance materials chosen reflect the rich diversity of our faculty, staff, and student body. Laboratory courses offered in the discipline of theatre include acting, lighting, movement for the stage, stagecraft, theatre production, theatre practicum and workshop, and voice.
Due to its small size, the department offers a nurturing environment that gives students close access to faculty, guest artists, and staff in classroom, rehearsal, research, workshop, and performance experiences. Through a well-rounded curriculum in extensive practical and theoretical application, students have the opportunity to develop skills in the ever-changing arena of the performing arts.
