“I am what time, circumstance, history, have made of me, certainly, but I am also, much more than that. So are we all.” ... James Baldwin
What is the African-American/Black Studies Experience?
It is a cluster of academic credit courses, events, and activities offering engagement, intellectual conversations, and scholarly research through the ethnographic portal of the African-descended people. Each course resides within one of the tiers of the Core Curriculum.
The African-American/Black Studies experience at Mountain View College opens the door to a robust examination of American life through the lens of this endemic American culture. Through this humanities centered sociological, cultural, political and economic exploration we invite you to expand your knowledge and understanding of these African-descended citizens of the United States of America whose stories, in concert with those of other cultures, form the bedrock of the American narrative.
